A webinar entitled A Focus on Trauma: Integrating Trauma-Informed Approaches and Moving Toward Trauma Prevention is taking place May 20, 2015 at 11:00 AM PT. From their website:
“This web conference will highlight several frameworks and models for trauma-informed approaches and provide an introduction to understanding community-level trauma and the implications for successful violence prevention efforts. Join us for a web conference exploring a new topic in the field: tailoring prevention work for communities that have been impacted by trauma. Be prepared to share your thoughts as we discuss how we currently understand trauma, its transmission, and approaches to preventing violence in communities impacted by trauma.”
Hosted by the US Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP), the webinar is aimed at addressing issues of youth but will have implications for education and peacebuilding in communities. For language instructors, awareness of trauma and using “trauma-informed approaches” in our educational practice is essential for integrating peacebuilding into our language teaching and learning. Register here and join the conversation!
