Changing the World, One Story at a Time

What stories have you heard that have transformed your life? This is a fundamental question underlying the StoryCorps project. With the mission “to preserve and share humanity’s stories in order to build connections between people and create a more just and compassionate world,” the project invites people from all over the United States to share their stories.

Telling our stories and having them heard can be life-changing. However, listening to these stories can also be a “catalyst for change,” asserts Tramaine Chelan’gat Hugie, the former director of community engagement at StoryCorps. Check out five memorable stories to start with here and watch how the project got started below.
